“Lure Safes” from Mauk Fishing Stuff

“Lure Safes” from Mauk Fishing Stuff

If you’re like me you tell yourself every year that this is the season that you will finally get all your gear organized. Well, summer-run salmon season is almost here so this is your chance to make a significant change in the way you handle your Super Baits, Mag Lip Flatfish and Mag Warts. Mauk Fishing Stuff, from right here in Brewster, Washington, has come up with what they call “lure safes” that solve the problem of having your lures in a tangled mess. These “safes” are made of heavy duty, pliable and see through plastic, with the edges lined with Velcro. Your hooks won’t poke through. They come in a variety of sizes so you can store multiple plugs or singles. You can even have your rods rigged with flashers and lures and the safes will wrap around the rods so they don’t spin when you are moving the boat. You can store your flashers in the larger sizes, too. Finally, there is a way to easily keep your tackle in order. Mike Mauk has been making these for a while and has refined the sizes. I have been using the ones he gave me at the Brewster Derby years ago and they still work just fine. He has taken his idea to a whole new level, as you will see when you visit his web site. I recommend that you do so before the salmon season gets here. You will find it at www.fishingtacklecovers.com.
