High Mountain Hunting Supply has come up with a way for hunters to pass the time this winter, and add a little excitement to their lives. It’s a Coyote Derby, and they are urging hunters to get out after these pesky varmints that harass deer and other wildlife when the snow is deep in our region. There are some really cool prizes being offered for those who participate, and you must register prior to the end of business on February 4th. The contest ends on February 9th. To get all the details stop by High Mountain Hunting Supply, on Mission Street in Wenatchee. I got a good report on the ice fishing at Roses Lake near Chelan. There is plenty of safe and plenty of 12-inch rainbow to be caught. Fishing Power Bait or crawlers near the bottom works just fine for ice angler, who may have to drill a few holes to find a school of hungry trout. I am trying to find time to make a trip to Patterson Lake, near Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop. I had a great time catching big perch and rainbow there last winter and want try it this season. I also want to try Davis Lake, which isn’t far from Patterson.
