There is more and more good news filtering for anglers here in Central Washington. First of all, confidence is high that we will be seeing an unprecedented back-to-back sockeye season on Lake Wenatchee. Fish counts over Tumwater Dam are reaching as many as 1,000 a day, and the department is monitoring it daily now. Keep an eye or ear on my reports or visit the WDFW web site to look for the official announcement. Also, good news for anglers in our region and state wide really, is the appointment of Rollie Schmitten to the Department of Fish and Wildlife Commission. Rollie has served as Director of Fisheries for Washington State and even at the Federal level as Director of National Marine Fisheries for 16 years. It is rare that we have someone so well grounded in fishing issues that is willing to devote their time to this office, following their retirement. To contact Schmitten for input or comments on fishing issues, visit the WDFW web site where you’ll find the phone numbers and e-mail addresses for the commissioners. More good news is that the hundreds of anglers who have been waiting for the new Super Baits to arrive at Hooked on Toys is that delivery is expected this week.
