I will be keeping an eye on Rufus Woods. I won’t be fishing it for a while. I’ll add the fact that the water level on the reservoir has been coming up to my list of reasons why I did so poorly on a recent trip up there. The ice cap on the bay inside Coulee City Marina just won’t go away. There are big bunches of anglers out there day and night, and they only talk about the whitefish they are catching. Rosie at Big Wally’s suspects that they are also getting some perch and rainbow, but they won’t admit it. I made a swing by Roses Lake the other day, and found a few ice anglers on the ice here. I saw one angler bring in a rainbow that looked to be from the fall plant, and he told me that the ice was still eight to ten inches thick. I checked on the road to Antillon, too, and found it still closed to all but snowmobile traffic. There not many boats fishing Lake Chelan, judging by the number of rigs parked at the city ramp and at Mill Bay, but this is a great time of year to take some larger mackinaw. Anglers are taking some kings incidentally while fishing for the lake trout, too.
