January is not only a great month to get out and fish for steelhead or big trout at Rufus Woods, or even ice fish on the lakes in our region it is a great time to learn something. The are three opportunities to learn more about what’s new in the field of outdoor gear, boats and other toys that we like to play with, and new fishing techniques coming up this month. The Tri-Cities Sportsmen’s Show kicks off on Friday, January 15th, and runs through Sunday, the 17th. It is held in the Trac Center in Pasco and offers a world of great things to see and do that the entire family will enjoy. This is the first outdoor show in our region and always a great one to attend. On Wednesday, January 20th, Town Ford in Wenatchee is offering a free seminar on fishing at Rufus Woods Reservoir. Joe Heinlen, of Lake Chelan Adventures, is a real pro at fishing on Rufus Woods and he’ll be thee to share his secrets. I will be on hand with an update on steelhead fishing and ice fishing prospects, too. Also, there is a great line up of fishing shows on KWCC-TV and ComCast’s Channel 3 this month. The shows air at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Go to my web site to get the show line up.
