I hit you with a bunch of important dates in my last report, and I wanted narrow the focus a bit and just remind you of what is coming up in early April. The first of which is the April Fool’s Opener that effects the lakes in the Columbia Wildlife Refuge, south of Potholes Reservoir. Some of these lakes are open year-round, but many open April 1st. There is great trout fishing available on most of them, but a few offer terrific spiny ray fishing in the early season. I also want to remind everyone that popular Warden Lake doesn’t open on April 1st. Fishing will be allowed here during the last weekend of the month with the statewide lowland lake opening weekend. Next on the April agenda is the Free Fishing Seminar at Town Ford in Wenatchee. This is another in a series where Town Ford opens their service area at 6 p.m. on a Wednesday evening, this one on April 7th, to the fishing public to get some great information. Shane Magnuson will be sharing his techniques on spring salmon fishing on the Icicle River and lower Columbia. Gordon Steinmetz will be talking about spring walleye fishing in our region.
