By Dave Graybill

You may remember me talking about my Bill McGuire. He is quite a remarkable man, living here in Rock Island. He has traveled the world, fishing and hunting, and was champion skier and tennis player. Although he was a world champion class caster, and still holds the all-time record for distance with a spinning rod, he actually best known as a master crafter of shot gun stocks. Over 200 hundred articles talking about his skill as a stock builder have been written about him in shooting magazines. I have written several articles about Bill McGuire, and he has built three fly rods for me, which are highly prized, and great examples of his skill and innovation. I am telling all this to get your interest in taking in the exhibit at the Wenatchee Valley Museum, which will display his collection of trophies and awards and many photographs of the famous folks he hunted and fished with in his 60 years as a sportsman. The exhibit opens on Friday, November 5th, and you can meet Bill from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. I will be there with Bill for the opening and hope to see you there. You’ll be amazed at what you will see.
