The annual Fishing Kids Day at the Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is just a couple of weeks away, and I want to remind families that they need to register for this free event. For six years now the hatchery has opened its grounds to families, many of them fishing for the first time. After registration the kids will pass through some education stations, including boating safety, knot tying and get to learn some things about our area’s fish. Then they are handed a rod and reel and get to catch two fish on the raceways at the pond. Members of the Central Washington Bass Club, the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association and Trout Unlimited are all on hand to help the kids, along with volunteers and hatchery staff. Everyone makes sure that the kids have a great experience. Don’t worry about what to do with your fish. Trout Unlimited volunteers clean, ice and bag them for the trip home. To register just go to my web site at FishingMagician.com and click on the Pepsi logo. Look for the Kids Fish-In Day on the calendar and click on the contact address. Follow the links to the registration page. I hope to see you there!
