Summer-run salmon and sockeye fishing season gets started in just a few days and anglers will want to know about a free seminar coming up soon. Pateros Celebrates Salmon Season is the theme for a night at the Central Building in Pateros on Friday, July 10th. The folks at Howard’s on the River have arranged to have two speakers talk about salmon fishing that evening. Starting at 5 p.m. there is an optional dinner of either a smoked steak sandwich or pulled port with all the trimmings. Then at 6 p.m. the free seminars begin. The first will be Jerrod Gibbons, of Okanogan Valley Guide Service, and he will be talking about the techniques he uses when fishing for sockeye salmon. The second speaker will be Ron Oules, of Reel-Lentless Guide Service. Oules has been fishing the Brewster Pool for years and puts a lot of kings on his boat. He will share his secrets with you in his presentation. The fishing for kings and sockeye is going to be particularly good this season, and you’ll want to learn from the pros on how to catch them. For information call Howard’s on the River at 509-923-9555.
