The Icicle Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited is offering a Women’s Introduction to Fly Fishing on Saturday, June 11th at Mountain Spring Lodge in Plain. The course includes a three-hour, hands-on introduction to fly fishing, with a maximum number of ten participants. The catch and release of rainbow trout is guaranteed. Everyone will receive a free one-year membership to Trout Unlimited. No experience is necessary and no fishing license is required. Anyone over 15 years of age can be part of the class, which will be taught by Doug Pendleton, of Northwest Fly Fishing Academy. The class will begin at 9 a.m. and the cost is $30.00 per person. To make a reservation, please call 509-548-7747. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of fly fishing and the timing is very good. Those who attend will be ready for the summer season on the many lakes and particularly the small streams in our area. The best fishing on our smaller rivers typically gets going in late July or early August. One of the more popular small streams is the Icicle, just outside of Leavenworth. It offers great access and excellent fishing for small rainbow and cutthroat trout.
