By Dave Graybill

Filling in for Dave Graybill, I’m Eric Granstrom. I recently took my wife and parents fishing at Spring Canyon on Lake Roosevelt. I’m still a “newbie” when it comes to this fishery, which must have been obvious by a man named Del I met in the parking lot. He was just pulling his pontoon boat out of the water and was proudly showing off a limit of beautiful Kokanee fillets he and his wife Kelley caught. A couple hours later with only one fish in the cooler, I got a friend request from Del on Facebook and soon I was on the phone with my new buddy and he was giving me all the inside scoop on how-to and where-to on Lake Roosevelt. This Kokanee fanatic put us smack-dab onto the fish and we were limited in no time. Thankfully, we’d enjoyed several meals on these scrumptious swimmers before I cracked the door on my stand-up freezer to save the leftovers. To my utterly sickening astonishment, I discovered my freezer had stopped working and all our meat spoiled. Word to the wise, be sure to check your freezers periodically so THIS doesn’t happen to you. Until next time, “Good Fishing!”
