This spring weather is driving me nuts. I can’t seem to get a day on the water without being beat around by the wind. I shouldn’t complain about the wind last Monday. I wasn’t driving the boat. Austin Moser invited me to join him and his clients to try for walleye on Banks Lake. When we arrived to the fishing spot on the back side of Steamboat Rock it was blowing hard. We put on some heavy bottom bouncers and started trolling. Seeing a bite was a challenge to say least. We landed a couple of small walleye here and then headed to another area toward Barker Flats. The wind wasn’t as bad here and we got a couple more walleye and some perch. We were getting short hit and frustrated by light bites. The hot lure was a green and blue butterfly blade on a Slow Death Hook. We made our way over to the opposite side of Barker and the wind laid down for a while. When that happened our luck changed. We started putting more fish in the cooler. We ended the day with nine walleye, eight perch and a whopper white fish. It was tough but Austin made it happen for us.
