For those who are wondering how the trout fishing is on Rufus Woods this spring, here’s my latest intel. My brother Rick and Cousin Greg Preston fish the upper reservoir recently and had pretty good luck. They ran down to the Buckley Bar and started casting spinners. Rick said they caught and released at least 15 rainbow and some of them were over 20 inches. They were having a blast and would have stayed at it longer, but the water level dropped and the current died. It was fun while it lasted. Here’s another item of interest for those who like to fish Lake Roosevelt. The Northern Pike Reward Program offered by the Colville Tribe is going to continue again this year. As you may know northern pike have shown up in Lake Roosevelt and the Kettle River and is a real concern. The tribe pays anglers $10.00 per head turned in and an angler can earn up to $590 per year by doing so. These pike can be really fun to catch and are good eating, too. You can learn all about the program visit the Colville tribe’s fish and wildlife web site.
