By Dave Graybill

I was talking to Austin Moser about getting together with him at Buoy 10 in a couple of weeks, and he mentioned that he only had two clients for sockeye fishing on the Brewster Pool on Sunday. I begged to come along and he was nice enough to say he had plenty of room. I met everyone at the ramp in Brewster at 5 a.m. and away we went. There was quite a crowd near the mouth of the Okanogan River. The fishing has been terrific for a couple of weeks now and it is a fishing party up here on the Brewster Pool. We got all the lines out and started weaving out way through the traffic, and well, nothing happened. There were blank looks on people’s faces and Austin was saying that he would have been half way to a limit the day before. Everyone was wondering what was going on, and all of a sudden things changed. Austin wasn’t sure if it was the new shrimp he had fixed up or what but we started getting bites. Actually we got a lot of bites. It got pretty hectic for a while with both the nets being used and fish being run up to the bow to be put on ice and lines being run out as fast as we could go. It took longer than usual but we had four limits of sockeye in the cooler by 7:30. What fun!
