By Dave Graybill

I put a stop to my binge fishing for walleye at Moses Lake. But it was a near thing. I had a trip planned with a friend to go to Banks Lake and they have to cancel. I didn’t find out until 3 a.m. the morning we were to go. I had all the rods rigged and ready and the boat loaded. What’s a guy supposed to do? I sent a text to Austin Moser at 4 a.m. I knew he was going to fish Banks that day, and he got right back to me and said sure, come on ahead! I met him and his clients at the Million Dollar Mile launch and off we went. The first walleye came pretty quickly, but it turned out to be a pretty slow morning. We got a few nice smallmouth, and then a whopper walleye. I mean a 29-incher! That lifted out spirits. What really turned our day around is when my brother Rick told Austin he found some fish on Barker Flats. We headed up there and really got into them. We wound up with limits for his clients: mostly on crank baits on side planers.
