The Seattle Boat Show opens this Friday, and there is just one word to describe it—spectacular. The first time I entered the Centurylink Field Exhibition Center to see the show, I was in awe. There are over 1,000 boats on display, from dinghies to yachts over 40 feet in length. Besides the boats displayed here there is an on-the-water exhibit of boats that just wouldn’t inside the huge pavilion. There is a free shuttle that delivers you to Lake Union to see these boats. Bring slip off shoes and socks so you can be welcomed aboard all the boats and inspect them from stem to stern. The show opens at 11 a.m. on Friday and runs clear through Sunday, February 2nd. In addition to the boats on display there are vendors selling everything from fishing tackle to moorage. One whole wing of CenturyLink is dedicated to specialty boating gear and destinations for boaters all over the west coast. There are seminars every day, and I will be doing some Friday through Sunday on opening weekend. There are special features to entertain youngsters and a wine tasting aspect to the opening night on Friday that is very popular. Learn all about it by going to seattleboatshow.com.
