By Dave Graybill

I said I was going to Potholes on Wednesday, but that plan changed. I got text messages from two of the people that were coming along that said, “don’t come”. One of them lives just few miles from Potholes and he said the wind was blowing 30 mph at his place. So, I had to regroup and the earliest I could get down there was Saturday. We had a pretty good idea of where to go to find both walleye and crappie. It was just off the mouth of Crab Creek. There are some of those habitat boxes sunken there that attract both species. I thought it was interesting that my brother Rick at Hooked on Toys pointed out the same spot when I stopped by to get some crappie jigs. He found walleye and crappie here the last time he was down there. He also told me that the fishing for landlocked Chinook was holding very well on Lake Chelan this fall. He said he had talked to some folks at the WDFW who were doing stream surveys in Stehekin and there were a bunch of them up there spawning. Looks good for the future of the salmon fishery on Chelan.
