The Buoy 10 salmon fishery at the mouth of the Columbia River is one of the most popular, if not the most popular fishery in the state. Right now, the season is open for coho here, and with a limit of two hatchery coho per day there is a huge number of anglers crowding the fishing areas. I was able to jump on board Austin Moser’s boat, with his three clients, last Friday to give it a try. We arrived prior to the tide change so Austin ran up the bay and pulled his crab pots. We got 39 keepers in just two pots. What a way to start the day. We then ran back down to Marker 1 and joined the fleet trolling for coho. We put four nice coho in the cooler and released several wild fish. Austin then ran back up the bay and we landed several good sized bottom fish. He sure knows how to make the most of a day on the water. He may have a few openings, and if you want to have a great time catching crab, coho and bottom fish, give him a call. You can reach Austin Moser on his cell phone at 509-668-0298.
