By Dave Graybill

I mentioned earlier that I was planning to take the Kingfisher 2025 Escape over to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Three family couples had rented a house on the lake for a birthday celebration, and it was an opportunity to do some kokanee fishing. I have visited the area many times but had never been on the water. After getting settled into the house we all jumped on board and I ran the boat out of the bay and onto the main lake. There were a number of boats fishing right there so I fired up the Garmin and seeing fish, put the riggers out. I had two rods rigged with Kokabow blades and spinners and baited with scented white shoe peg corn. We got our first fish within minutes and then got very busy. We boated a dozen kokanee that averaged 14 inches in a little over an hour. We got four doubles, and twice I scooped up two fish in the net. Then all of a sudden, the bite died. We fished again the following morning and again in the afternoon, but only got seven more of these great fish. I was glad that although I had never been on the lake, we all got to take home a few.
