By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. While on vacation last week, I couldn't help but sneak a peak on social media posts back home on how the salmon fishing was going. It was killing me to be over on the coast while my brethren were stacking their coolers full of sockeye and kings. After fixing a minor fuel leak in my kicker motor, I was ready to make an evening trip with Marion to the base of Rocky Reach Dam and go for sockeye. Tuesday was our night. We didn't get rods in the water until after 7, so I knew our time frame was narrow. We joined the conga line with 9 other boats, circling the waters along the Chelan County shoreline just down from the upper limit line. I barely got two rods in the water when one had a fish. Marion was busily negotiating our way through other boats, so I was left to fight and try to net it. Unfortunately, as will happen with soft-mouthed sockeye, it got away. It wasn't long before another was on that this time, I got it. The action was fast-paced with several others lost, but the fish are there. Until next time, Good Fishing!
