By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Can you remember being 8-years old? I'm trying to think. For me, that would have been 1976. Well yes, I remember that year well. It was our nation's bicentennial. I vividly recall spending that summer trying to collect as many bicentennial quarters as I could. I also remember spending tons of time at Cain Lake in Whatcom County on Art Thompson's property. He had this little cabin right on the lake with a dock and an old wooden slide. I think I still have splinters from that damn thing! What a summer it was! The reason I bring this up is because of a fishing adventure last week for a lucky 8-year old on Lake Chelan. He and his Dad were fishing with Jeff Witkowski of Darrell and Dad's Family Guide Service. Suddenly, they had a fish on and it was the boy's turn to reel it in. He struggled for 15-minutes and his Dad helped steady the rod, but the little guy did all the cranking. Captain Jeff netted the fish that weighed in at 26.7-pounds! By the way, the 8-year old weighs just 55-pounds. What a summer memory! Until next time, Good Fishing!
