It has been said that when you get a lemon, make lemonade. That’s how you make the best of a bad situation. Well, with all the school closures, sports closures and restrictions on gatherings, there are some good options still available. Like getting outdoors. The kids are out of school, and since there are no conflicts with soccer, baseball or other sports, when not take them fishing? There are many year-round lakes open to fishing right now. There is very good fishing for kokanee on Lake Chelan, and great fishing for big kokanee and rainbow on Lake Roosevelt. I am also hearing some good reports on the fishing for walleye on Potholes Reservoir and Banks Lake. These are just a few of the terrific opportunities that families can enjoy in our region. Now would be a great time to introduce your kids to the outdoors and to get out and go fishing. Check with the State Parks to see if the ones in your area are open and visit your local sporting goods store and ask the people in the fishing department where would be the best place to go. You can also check my web site at FishingMagician.com, to see what I am reporting on fishing in your area.

Leader Lake near Omak is one of the year-round lakes that offers good fishing for trout, bass, bluegill and perch.
