By Dave Graybill

I have been fishing with Brian Anantatmula and his family for many years. One of the first times we fished together I had Brian, his mother and father and his son Josh, who was celebrating his 5th birthday. I took them to Bridgeport, and we had a blast catching triploid rainbow trout, which we released, and steelhead. Most memorable was how eager his mother was to catch fish. Although reminded several times that this was Josh’s birthday trip, you couldn’t pry the rod out of her hands. Over the years we have caught salmon at Chelan Fall and Wells Dam, kokanee on Lake Chelan and rainbow on Rufus Woods. Josh is now 12 years old, and I wanted to give him a good trip, as his birthday is coming up again pretty soon. So, I am taking he and his Dad to Rufus Woods. We haven’t fished this together and I know we will have a fun and productive day. I asked Brian to bring along his flyrod. We are going to spend some time trying for some big trout with flies. I have wanted to do this for months and Friday will be the day. I will let you know how we do.

Here is Josh Anantatmula with one of the fish he landed on our first trip together many years ago.
