The numbers over Bonneville are very promising not just for fishing Kings but also Coho and plenty of boats will have their bows pointed for Vernita in the coming weeks. As I drove the nearly 5-hours back from Bonneville last week after fishing with Shane Magnuson, I was trying to remember how long ago it was that Dave and I were aboard with Shane on an epic day fishing Vernita. I did a little searching and found the video we shot from that day (https://youtu.be/a_65R9XcTvQ) and discovered it was 8-years ago. First, it's hard to believe it was that long ago. Second, it shows how successful an angler who knows their gear and bait can be on this fishery. We came home with 16 fish and caught most of them using eggs. Speaking of Mr. Magnuson, he owns and operates Northwest Bait and Scent and recently purchased Zillabait. Shane says it added a nice line of egg and herring cures and bite stimulants to his Graybill's Guide Formula and Slammin' Sams scents.
