By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com I'm Eric Granstrom. A pathway somewhere is laid with the best intentions, right? I mentioned last Thursday that I'd hatched a plan to go kokanee fishing with friends at Lake Chelan Saturday after meeting for dinner and beers. Then, come to find out, there was a big kokanee fishing derby planned for Saturday, so we scrubbed the plan for another time. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I awoke to fresh snow on the ground Saturday morning. I hear Fish Lake got smacked with quite a bit of snow over the past few days, so ice fishing might be a little tricky. I see Dave had good success finding some perch over the weekend there. I also read that the Fish and Wildlife Commission was considering a proposal to allow catch-and-release fishing in the upper section of the Chelan River. It was closed in 2015 so the Chelan PUD could evaluate restoration efforts. The Commission agreed to go forward with a plan to allow fishing this summer. At the same meeting, the Commission refused to make it unlawful to bait deer and elk. Stay up to date at www.wdfw.wa.gov. Until next time, Good Fishing!
