By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Sometimes, no matter how much you plan ahead, "stuff" happens. Or, in my case, having to answer the call of nature. A few years ago, Marion and I were fishing for kokanee at Conconully. We were luckily one of only three boats on the lake this particular day when I suddenly HAD TO GO. We had four rods out, all on the downriggers, and at the upper end of the lake. I began estimating my pending need and the amount of time it would take to reel up all the gear and make a run to reach the porta potty at the launch. The math didn't add up. Panic creased my brow. Marion noticed my predicament and asked what was going on. I admitted my urgent need to relieve an issue "downstairs" and, of course, she began laughing. I was panic-stricken. I surveyed our surroundings, looking for an escape plan, and realized I'd waited too long. This was happening and RIGHT HERE! Thankfully we had a bucket on board, so I put it in the empty compartment under the seat in the stern and let fly. Mother Nature always wins. Until next time, Good Fishing!
