The busiest lakes in the state will be Burke and Quincy in the Quincy Wildlife Area this weekend. The annual Quincy Chamber of Commerce Trout Derby is scheduled for March 25th and 26th this weekend, and the fishing should be terrific. Anglers are already landing some dandy carryover rainbow, and the Quincy Chamber made a special purchase of trout to be released just prior to the derby. Some of them are whoppers, too. The derby organizers have made this year’s event a two-day affair, and anglers are able to fish both Quincy and Burke lakes to catch trout to qualify for the prizes. Anglers that fish Burke Lake will be able to use a brand new launch and dock and the parking area has been redone, too. Both lakes should produce the best catches in years. There will be prizes awarded in both adult and youth categories, and there will be lots of raffle prizes again this year. Go to my website at www.fishingmagician.com and click on the “Something Fishy in Quincy” to get all the information about this year’s derby. This event is always well attended and is fun for the whole family. I hope to see you there!
