Rufus Woods Brandts Landing Anglers.
Here are some anglers fishing off some rocks at Brandts Landing on Rufus Woods Reservoir. Brandts Landing is a Corps of Engineers Park six miles above the dam and is a great spot for fishing for trout.
Rufus Woods Me Nice One
I got this nice rainbow at Rufus Woods Reservoir recently. Eric Granstrom and I landed three other smaller fish before I got this one. There are still some good triploids being landed off Brandts Landing.
B-Port Chilly Morning
This shot shows the steam boiling off the Columbia River at Bridgeport recently. It was about 15 degrees, which was fine for pulling plugs, but when the wind came up the temperature dropped to around zero. We left and tried fising elsewhere. Shane Magnuson put us on five steelhead on plugs.
Pateros Fetha Styx Chrome Steelhead Rod
I just had to show off this steel and the rod I caught it on. The is a Fetha Styx Chrome 10 1/2 made for steelhead fishing and it is now my favorite steelhead rod. It is very light weight and casts effortlessly. I would encourage you to check one out. I will become your new favorite, too!
Hevi-Beads Plug Rig
What you are looking at here is how Shane Magnuson rigged his plugs with a Hevi-Beads egg-colored bead when we fished for steelhead recently. This set up accounted for four of the five fish we hooked that day.
Pateros Fred Lillian Big One
Fred Lillian of Bellevue shows off a steelhead that was caught below Pateros recently. His fish, which was 32 1/2 inches won the longest steelhead contest the day after the Pateros Celebrates Steelhead Season event.
CDA Higgens Point Boat Launch
In the distance you can see the boat ramp at Higgens Point. When I was there recently there were eight rigs and trailers parked. Fishing for Chinook is the attraction. Kokanee fishing has slowed as they near spawn.
CDA Troller
Fishing for Chinook salmon continues to be good on Lake Couer d'Alene, and there are several debies going on through the winter. Here an angler trolls the shoreline opposite Higgens Point toward the south end of the lake.
Icicle Coho Best
Coho have shown up in great numbers on the Icicle River. Here you can see a bunch of them swirling near the shore below the hatchery. Jigs and spoons work best to coax a hit from these salmon.
Icicle C oho Angler
Here is the fishing area that most people are using to catch coho near the National Fish Hatchery in Leavenworth. You can see the Trout Unlimited Handicapped fishing platform in the background.
