Lund 1800 Sport Angler

Lund 1800 Sport Angler

If there ever was a “dream boat” made for fishing the inland waters of North Central Washington, it would have to be the Lund 1800 Sport Angler. I have had the pleasure of using this model of Lund, thanks to Valley Marine in Yakima, since April of this year. I have used it to fish for walleye, bass, trout and salmon on the lakes and rivers in our area and it has proved to have everything I need to do it all. The boat is equipped with the new generation Mercury Verado 150XL, that has too many advances in 4-stroke performance to list here. The important things to not about this engine is dependable performance, the ability to actually slow down to trolling speed (really), and fuel economy. This power plant is supplemented with a Mercury 9.9 ELHPT4S—which translates into an electric start, power tilt kicker. The electric start and power tilt are two features that I love in a kicker. They take easy of operation to a new level. The boat also has a Minn Kota 70AP/V2 mounted on the bow. This powerful electric has the Auto Pilot feature that I also love. There is a large live well in the bow with automatic fill and aeration functions. The Scotty 1106 electric downriggers are something I use even when trout and kokanee fishing and are essential for salmon fishing here on the Columbia River. The boat also has a Lowrance LCX27 mounted on the dash. This has an incredible range of functions and also includes the very sophisticated GPS features available today, like the Premium Lakes Chip that will pin point your location on most of the lakes in our region—Wow. There is a two-bank, 24-volt charger system under a hatch (I never run out of power) and even a wash down system. Something my wife really loves are the Air Ride seats. “I have never had a smoother ride,” she says, and I have had her on some rough rides in our adventures. This Lund has been outfitted with a full fishing cover that will allow anglers to fish in warm comfort this winter on Rufus Woods. It also has a full travel cover. This is something I found to be very important. It keeps the boat from filling with debris when stored outdoors. It keeps things in the boat when towing, and also secure when you’re parked. I have to mention the trailer. It has a spare tire mounted on the swing-away frame, but what most people notice are the built-in tie down brackets and the fact that the light are LED, so you don’t have to disconnect when launching.

This is just a very brief description of all the features on this Lund. I could go on and on about every component. Just let me say that there is nothing lacking. Not only is this a Lund, which is the top of the ladder for quality of construction and for performance even in the roughest conditions. This boat has every feature an angler could ask for, and I mean everything.
