There are some free events coming up this month that anglers won’t want to miss. The first ones are the free kids fishing events. The City of Rock Island once again is welcoming anglers under the age of 15 and their families to come down and enjoy the trout fishing at the Pit Pond. This annual event attracts hundreds of anglers and the WDFW make sure the pond is full of trout and some of them are real whoppers. Volunteers from Rock Island provide free hot dogs and snacks and Pepsi provides the soft drinks. The Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association is on hand with rods and reels for kids to use and other tackle and bait. The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. till noon. On the same day the Ephrata Lions Club has their annual kids fishing day Oasis Park in Ephrata. This is also well attended has been going on for years. Later in the month, on Wednesday, April 25th, Town Ford is offering a free seminar at their dealership in East Wenatchee, starting at 6 p.m. Anton Jones will be there to talk about techniques for catch triploid rainbow on Rufus Woods Reservoir, and Shane Magnuson will speak on fishing for spring salmon.
