By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. As we step into a new year, it's important to appreciate the little things in life. My wife is not a huge fan of this time of year because she's laid off for three months. I, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoy it because she usually has dinner either done or planned by the time I get home from work. Last night was no exception. She had thawed out some kokanee we caught last summer. I suggested she bake them in our convection oven on the counter and they came out wonderfully. As we savored every last bit, I couldn't help but be drawn into the trip that brought these beautiful fish to our palette. It was June 14th to be exact. We'd escaped for a weekend of fishing at Conconully. After a night of restful slumber in the camper, we awoke that Sunday to torrential rain falling. Undeterred, we put the top on the boat and went fishing. It took us a while to find the kokanee, but once we did, we were in hog heaven. We have our 2021 calendar out planning the season to come. Until next time, Good Fishing!
