By Dave Graybill

It’s been about a week since I was out on the water, fishing for walleye. It was a chilly, windy day on Moses Lake, and the water temperature had dropped five degrees from the last time I fished the very north end of the lake. We got a few fish, and I knew with just a little bit warmer weather this area on Moses Lake would light up. I wanted to see if a couple of my favorite guides had been out and how they were doing. Sure enough, I got a photo from Shelby Ross, who was fishing the north end of Moses Lake, and he had a two limits of very nice walleye. He said he had released a 24- and a 25-inch fish as well. This makes me think that the spawn is over on Moses Lake and the big females are hungry. My other good friend and guide, Brian Nielson, has bee fishing Banks. It’s starting to happen here, too. He sent me a photo of a client that was 82 years old and caught his first walleye. It was a 28-inch fish! I appreciate these guys releasing this big ones that are so important for future fishing.
