Yakima Rollie
Rollie Schmitten celebrates before releasing a nice rainbow taken on the Yakima River recently. Rollie was with me and Johnny Boitano of the Troutwater Fly Shop in Ellensburg. He showed us a great time!
Chelan Eric Granstrom
Eric Granstrom shows off one of the kokanee we got on our last trip to Lake Chelan. We landed five, but lost six during the hot early bite. We had four doubles before bite quit.
Chelan Gary Feil
Gary Feil wanted to see how the new Kingfisher Discovery 2025 performed so he came along for a kokanee trip to Lake Chelan. This is one of the big kokanee he landed before we got blown off!
Chelan Kokanee Catch
Here's our catch on Friday. We fished with Shane Magnuson, Upper Columbia Guide Service, and had a great time. Kokanee ranged from 16 to 18 inches.
Chelan Kokanee Me
Look at the size of this kokanee I caught on Friday at Lake Chelan. We didn't find many fish, but the ones we caught were sure dandies.
Methow Me 12 Pounder
As you can see I am pretty pleased with this 32-inch, 12-pound wild steelhead I am about to release. I got it on the Methow, fishing with Keith Roe, of Raven Jigs, and it jumped four times. What a fish!
Chelan Falls Jim Passage
Jim Passage, of Lake Wenatchee, saved our fishing day recently, with this hatchery steelhead he caught on a jig with an egg bead dropper. We were fishing on the Columbia just below the outflow of the Chelan Hatchery.
Ford Ryan Holt Waker Burke Lake
The Walker boys from Leavenworth had a great morning of fishing at Burke Lake. Ford is on the left, Dad Ryan in the middle and Hold is on the right. The boys got their limits and were pretty proud of their catch.
Derby Headquarters
When the weigh-in deadline was reached the area in and around the Derby Headquarters at Burke Lake was packed. Fishing was very good so there were lots of trout to check in. The biggest trout ever was caught this year, weighing over 6 pounds, eight ounces.
Kent Bacon at Derby
The man wearing the "O-Fishal Hat" at the far left in this photo is Kent Bacon, organizere of the Annual Quincy Valley Tourism Association's Trout Derby at Burke Lake. He and his team did a great job again this year.
