Here's one of the two steelhead Rollie Schmitten and I landed off the mouth of the Entiat River recently. Both were wild and released, and we were very impressed by how bright the steelhead are in December on the upper Columbia River. (FishingMagician.com, Dave Graybill photo)

There are many evenings like this at Rocky Ford in the winter. Sure it's a bit chilly, but the fishing can be great and the rainbow really hot. One I landed jumped eight times!

Okay, it's not a great photo. I just won't take a fish out of the water when I'm alone. If you look closely there's a size 18 scud in the nose of this 25-incher at Rocky Ford.

Schmitten carefully releases a wild fish he just landed on the Wenatchee River. It is important to keep the fish in the water, and they come free of the jig very easily with the use of barbless hooks.
