I hope everyone had as much fun as I did over the past holiday weekend. I had my daughter over and we had a ball at Banks Lake. She hadn’t ever really been bass fishing and she got a great lesson on this lake. The smallmouth were really biting and she caught on very quickly. She was tying on her own hooks and lures, threading her own baits on the hook and casting like a champ. She did get frustrated by how easily these fish can get off the hook if you don’t give them a solid hook set, but she boated a good number by the end of the day. If you want to check out the action, log onto YouTube.com and do a search for Banks Lake Bass Fishing. You will get a glimpse of the kind of day we had. I would recommend Banks for anyone who is new to bass fishing or has youngsters that you want to introduce to the sport. It is a great training ground for new bass anglers, as the action is usually fast and furious this time of year. You don’t have to start early. These fish will bite all day long.
