Here’s another item for your calendar. Mark down May 8th. It’s the date of the first Coastal Conservation Association fund-raising banquet. If you haven’t heard, the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is fishery conservation and an enhancement advocacy organization with an amazing track record. Some of you may recall that when blackened redfish became popular in restaurants in the south, the commercial fishermen darn near wiped them out. The CCA stepped in and got the commercial fishing curbed and redfish once again flourish. They have had other successes on the east coast, and now there are chapters springing up all over Washington and Oregon, with saving salmon and steelhead stocks as their aim. The local chapter in Wenatchee is inviting folks to join the fun of their first banquet, which again is being held on May 8th at Apple Annie’s in Cashmere. Among the many items to be auctioned or won at the event is a trip down the Snake River with Beamer’s Hells Canyon Tours. Tickets are being sold at Hooked on Toys and High Mountain Hunting Supply. To learn more about what the CCA is all about log onto cca.org and then go to State Chapters to open the local web page.
