By Dave Graybill

After a great dinner of fresh sockeye salmon, I decided it was time to check in with the folks at Fish I called the Cove Resort and Nadine West told me that the perch bite was getting good up there. She did say that if I really wanted to do well that I had better have periwinkles. The summer perch fishing at Fish Lake is a favorite pastime of many local anglers, so I decided to get in on the action. I ran up the Wenatchee River and found a spot that had some periwinkles and gathered just enough to assure a limit of Fish Lake perch. There is a limit on perch now at Fish Lake, with a ceiling of 25 per angler, per day. I headed the Lund just around the point from the Cove and in about 30 feet of water my fish finder showed a nice school of perch. I threw out a marker, ran back to it, and hit the button for “Anchor Mode” on my Minn Kota I-Pilot. This kept me over the spot and since I was getting a bite on every cast, I had my limit of 25 in no time. Great fun!
