My wife Eileen and I had a great time recently. We stayed at the new Guest House on the Okanogan River, near Riverside, just north of Omak. This is a great place to stay to explore the fishing on the Okanogan. The weather was perfect on Sunday and I fished above the Guest House without success. The next day I found a great piece of water downriver from the place, but not only was it full of spawning kings, it was filled with leaves and muddy. A rain and wind storm the night before changed conditions on the river considerably. We spent the rest of day fishing our way home on the Okanogan, and taped more footage of the river and some different holes for the Fishing TV Show. This should help anglers who plan to fish the Okanogan this season. It’s a great river and the quality and size of the fish will surprise you. I am really looking forward to spending more time on the Okanogan this season. It’s a beautiful stream and it can be full of some of the best steelhead you’ll find anywhere here in Central Washington.
