I hope everyone had a great opening weekend of fishing. The season is now officially open! I have been trying to decide where to go next and I think I am going to check out Lake Chelan. There’s an outside chance I could catch some kokanee deep, and a laker or two while I’m at it. Who knows, maybe there’s really hungry king lurking out there. But now that the kids are all excited about fishing I should remind you that there is great free fishing event coming up on June 4th. It’s the annual Kids Fish-In Day at the National Fish Hatchery in Leavenworth. It is free this year, and you still need to register. Registration is easy, too, since you can do it on-line. Just log onto www.friendsofnwhatcheries.com and fill out the registration for your preferred time slot. Another event that many anglers attended last year and I heard rave reviews about is the CCA Banquet and Auction coming up on Saturday, May 21st at Apple Annie’s in Cashmere, with the doors opening at 4 p.m. You can get tickets at Hooked on Toys and High Mountain Hunting Supply in Wenatchee, and in Brewster at the Triangle Shell.
