Sockeye are teaming in the Brewster Pool and kings are being caught now, too. The water temperature in the Okanogan River has warmed up, forming the thermal barrier that makes fishing for salmon off the mouth the best in the region. Have you got your tickets for the Budweiser-Lowrance King Salmon Derby in Brewster yet? The event will take place on August 3rd to the 5th this year and this is the most popular derby on the Columbia River! This will be the seventh year that the Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the derby and they do such a good job of running it, people come back year after year to fish this one—whether they catch fish or not. Fishing this derby is just plain fun, and even if you don’t win cash for a big fish, you have a great chance to take home some great prizes through the raffles. There will be over $20,000.00 in cash and prizes handed out this year, and you don’t want to miss out. You can learn all about the derby by logging onto brewstersalmonderby.com. The web site will give you all the details and you can even print a registration form to send in. Do it today!
