By Dave Graybill

Steelhead fishing has been good on the Wenatchee River and in the Bridgeport area of the upper Columbia River. I checked in with Shane Magnuson, and he had a good report for me. He floated the Wenatchee River recently and his clients hooked six steelhead and landed four on a short float on the upper river. He also fished at Bridgeport late last week and did much better. His boat hooked 16 and landed 11, with five of the fish clipped hatchery fish. He said that his hatchery catches are running about 40 percent. He also said that the Wenatchee may begin to freeze with the predicted very cold weather forecast for the coming week. I am also getting questions on the ice conditions on Moses Lake. People are anxious to get at the jumbo perch Moses is noted for. Brian Nielson tells me that if the cold weather continues they should be able to get out on the ice this week. It all depends on the weather and always be cautious before stepping out on the ice. I checked the web cam at Fish Lake, and it is covered with snow, but there is no sign that anyone is drilling holes through ice here yet.
