By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Dad and I pooled our points and put in for the "Quality Deer" late archery hunt in the Entiat. When we were drawn, we spoke of the potential of bagging a big buck, but that wasn't the point. After my Mom died a little over a year ago, I stood in the kitchen of my parent's house and told Dad, "OK, get ready, we're going hunting!" I wanted to give him something to look forward to and remind him he had a lot of life left to live. Yesterday, we slid our way over snowy roads retreating from Mud Creek in the Entiat valley after an incredible 10-day hunt. The only thing strapped to the top of the rig was a nice Christmas tree. And while the freezer goes begging, our dreams of a memorable hunt were certainly realized. Dad and I spent an amazing week-plus enjoying each other's company, reminiscing about old times, and making new memories. We saw an average of 40-deer a day with the buck-to-doe ratio 1-to-8. There were some chances and, as will happen in bow hunting, some errant shots. But a quality hunt we certainly had. Until next time, Good Hunting!
