On Thursday and Friday of this week I am going to be trying something new—fishing for northern pike on Lake Roosevelt. I have traveled to Colville, staying at Benny’s Colville Inn, and will be meeting up with my fishing buddy Kevin Witte. I met Kevin several years ago when I fished with him on Lake Roosevelt with Austin Moser. We have been to Fish Camp in the fall in the Dalles, Oregon area, and talked about making this trip every time we meet. Finally, we are going to launch at the Kettle Falls boat ramp, along with my other fishing buddy James Lebow. Kevin lives in the Kettle Falls area and has fished for northern pike for years. He will know where to look for them, how to fish for them, and he is going to help do a video on cleaning these toothy critters and how to claim the reward for catching them. The Colville Tribe has a rewards program and will pay anglers $10.00 for each northern pike head dropped off at freezers at boat ramps along Lake Roosevelt. I am very excited about fishing for these predators and to do my part in helping to remove them from the reservoir.
