By Eric Granstrom

For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. Marion and I spent about $350 in fuel driving from Wenatchee to Tokeland and back over the New Year weekend. We spent about $30 on crab bait. We spent the better part of two days crabbing for not one, single keeper. I ran to Costco and spent $36 dollars on three whole, cooked crab. So, Marion asked me if it's all worth it. I answered with one question. "Did you have fun?" She said "yes." Now, I know this might start an argument in your house about the expense versus the reward. The cost for the gear, the boat, the fuel, the bait, etc. Juxtapose that with whether you catch anything or not and how much it would be to just go buy the fish instead. I always come back to the same answer. It's way more about the experience. In my family, most of the stories we share around the kitchen counter during get-togethers revolve around hunting and fishing. The "remember when" and "you remember the time?" The theme is the same, but the experience creates memories to last a lifetime. And you can't buy those life lessons. Until next time, Good Fishing!
