For FishingMagician.com, I'm Eric Granstrom. If you've had the good fortune of fishing with Shane Magnuson, you've met his incredible fish-dog Jewels. Nearly a decade ago, Shane told me he was getting Jewels bred and wanted to know if I wanted one of her pups. I jumped at the chance and 9-years ago this March, we welcomed Oakley into our lives. She, like her mother, is a pure-bred English Lab and her registered name is "Annie Oakley Get Your Gun." Or Oakley for short. Oakley spent the first 2+ years of her life with me, pretty much going everywhere I did. She was incredible with everyone, including my Mom as she suffered from dementia. Marion suggested Oakley go live with my parents to help Dad with Mom. So, she did. Mom LOVED Oakley and after she died, Oakley gave Dad a good reason to keep going every day. Dad just turned 81 and Oakley's coming up on 9-years, and let's just say Dad has loved Oakley nearly to death. So now, Oakley's back home with us on a weight loss and fitness program.
