By Dave Graybill

I made a quick trip up the Lake Chelan, to test out the new Smoker Craft that Bob Feil Boats and Motors has rigged up for me. I had looked at the weather forecast, which wasn’t good, but I needed to put the boat on the water as I am heading to the Hermiston, Oregon area to do some walleye and bass fishing. Everything checked out on the boat, and I am sure glad I had this 20-footer. There were two- to three-foot rolling waves on Chelan. I managed to get a couple of kokanee rods out just to see if there were any fish in the Lakeside Park area, and found out there were. I hooked a couple of fish and found some small schools on the fish finder. I didn’t want to stay out there too long, though. I was the only fishing boat on the whole lake! I will probably have some strong wind to deal with on the Columbia while fishing down there, but this boat will handle it. I am eager to fish this area that is famous for big walleye. A lot of big time tournaments are held here. I’ll let you know how I do, exploring new water.
