The end of October is coming up fast, and there are many lakes in our region that will close. This will be the last weekend that you can fish your favorite lake until next April. Check the regs to see which lakes are closing. Trout fishing can be very good at the end of the season. Remember you can catch as many fish as you can at Grant County’s Park Lake through this Friday, October 28th. The lake will be rehabbed and there are some big rainbow in this lake, and lots of big perch, too. There is still time to sign up for the King of the Reach Salmon Derby on the Hanford Reach. It starts this Friday. This derby is no only a lot of fun, with some great prizes being given away, it serves an important purpose. By bringing as many wild salmon anglers can catch to hatchery trucks to be delivered to the Priest Rapids Hatchery, anglers greatly improve the wild stocks used for spawning. My hat is off to the Tri-Cities Chapter of the CCA for conducting this derby. To learn more about it and even sign up, long onto the derby site at www.kingofthereach.com.
