Most people would be glad to return from traveling for a week or more on Memorial Weekend. It would give them an extra day to do whatever they want. Not me. You see, Bob Feil Boats and Motors had my new boat rigged and ready to go, the day before I left. So I had to wait an extra day to get it. Now it is waiting for its first fishing trip and I can’t wait. It’s the Smokercraft 202 Phantom Offshore, meaning it has the offshore bracket that gives you so much more room on the interior. It is powered by the new Mercury Pro XS 115. This motor is the lightest model available for its size, weighing only 363 pounds. It has eight valves with a single overhead cam and in-line four cylinders. It should perform great on this boat and have good fuel economy, too. The boat has the latest Minn Kota Ulterra on the bow. This is a 36 volt system, with 112 pounds of thrust on the motor. The batteries are the new gels and I am eager to see how many hours I get with this set up. It is sitting on a dual axel trailer, with a two-speed winch. There are two Scotty riggers on the gunnels and four Orca rod holders. The storage is amazing and there are more features that I will be happy to show you when I see you on the water or at the ramp.
