It’s just two weeks away: The Northern Pike Minnow Derby at Crescent Bar. Brought to you by the Quincy Valley Tourism Association, Grant County PUD and Quincy Chamber of Commerce, the derby invites anglers to catch as many pike minnows as they can to win cash and prizes. The derby kicks off on Friday, September 22nd and runs through Sunday, September 24th. The grand prize in this year’s derby is a $12,000.00 fishing boat from Bob Feil Boats and Motors. There will be cash and prizes awarded for cumulative weight and most fish caught. The derby serves two purposes. Number one is to remove as many pike minnows as possible from the Columbia River. These fish eat thousands of salmon and steelhead smolt every year, and the fewer the better for our salmon and steelhead runs. The other purpose is to provide a fun event for anglers in our area. This is a very family friendly derby. The derby headquarters will be at the new marina at Crescent Bar.
