It looks like the weather is taking a turn for the better throughout the region. This is good news for those who are fishing for pike minnow in the big derby going on at Crescent Bar and those who are planning fishing trips anywhere for that matter. I plan on taking advantage of the weather, too. There are many places that I want to check out. I plan to get an early look at the fishing on the Hanford Reach at Vernita. The fish are showing up late, like every other run on the Columbia, but there will be plenty of fish to chase here very soon. I want to get down to Potholes Reservoir, too. I hear that the fall walleye bite is picking up there and want to get in on it. Another place that is on my list for late September is upper Rufus Woods Reservoir. I have had some very good reports on the triploid action up there, with double digit catches not uncommon. Those in the know realize that there are good numbers of brown trout in the reservoir up here and the fall is the time got get after them. After the first frost Rock Lake is where I am headed for sure.
